Background:
I'm a proud graduate of Central Michigan University where I finished with a degree in broadcasting (Fire Up Chips!!!). My previous experience was all in sports talk radio. I worked as a producer for ESPN Radio in Boston before heading back to Mt. Pleasant to finish up school. That's when I latched on here at Mike FM and have been loving it ever since. It's funny cause I always told myself I would never be a DJ cause I hated the idea of just listening to the same eight songs over and over again and having to pretend like I'd never heard that song before. Here at Mike, however, I've never had a night where I've heard the same song twice. I'll admit, sports radio is still my first love, so here's my shameless plug for the day: you can also catch me on Saturday mornings in the WILS studio anytime Jack Ebling is too lazy to come into work for The Jack and Tom Show.
About me:
I would say I'm a closet nerd...but I don't really hide it, I'm quite proud of it actually. People just choose not to acknowledge it for some reason. I show all the symptoms. I play video games, like movies like Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings, and enjoy researching sports statistics for fun. Here's all you need to know about my level of nerdiness. My college roomates and I brought a Nintendo Wii on our senior spring break...embarrassing.
I was born in Northern New Jersey a couple miles outside New York City, meaning I'm a legit Yankees fan, not one of those bandwagon fans who started liking them when they were winning in the late 90's. I moved to the Metro Detroit Area when I was 8 and have been living in Michigan ever since.
I'm a big time movie guy. My favorite five movies in no particular order: The Hunt for Red October, The Kingdom, Shawshank Redemption, Blood Diamond, and Shawn of the Dead.
Favorite Music: Anything with piano. Billy Joel, Ben Folds, Jacks Mannequin...if it's got piano, I like it.
Other notable things: I have a ridiculously stupid sense of humor, and tend to laugh at almost anything. If you laugh at 20% of my jokes, I consider that a pretty good day. I'm a huge sports fan in general, but the only teams that can make or break my day are the Yankees and Central Michigan athletics...The second is pretty unfortunate and creates A LOT of bad days. One more odd thing...I'm a huge european soccer fan and probably pay way too much attention to it. They just have a better way of doing sports over there and I appreciate that. They punish tanking games with demotion.
